We have the pleasure of hosting this online fundraiser for the CRIM Rehab Center,Isla Mujeres, Mexico, our Auctioneer; Alden Butcher, also assists with fundraising for the Little Yellow School House during the Island Time Music Festival. When the call came in to also help a local friend and rehab center, we gladly offered our help.
Javier Martinez Cen is known by many as a musician for many years, Dinnertainment entertainer and chef and now owner of Javi’s Cantina. He was in a motorcycle accident on Saturday August 3, 2019. While he has a long road ahead with rehabilitating a broken left arm and crushed right hand, Dr Fernando Ortiz at Amerimed Hospital in Cancun took great care of him. Not to worry, Dr Ortiz says he will absolutely play guitar again. 🎸 #foreverarockstar
The next steps for Javi is a lot of rehab at CRIM rehabilitation center on the island. This institute, which opens its doors to the islanders from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., offers services such as X-rays, ultrasound, and consultations with specialists in orthopedics, psychiatry and cardiology, as well as general medicine, and others. The government and Director have made incredible progress on the remodel of the space, they just need one last push to re-open. https://islamujeres.gob.mx/2019/01/10/crim-isla-mujeres-comprometido-con-el-bienestar-de-las-familias-islenas/ . Javi’s medical bill was $306,000 pesos. We are fortunate to have businesses to utilize sales and we had enormous support from friends and customers who purchased gift cards from Javi's Cantina, tshirts from www.myislatshirt.com, made reservations from www.islamujeresvacationrentals.com and other sales of merchandise. There were also donors who were very generous.
We believe the funds that have been so generously donated to Javi's medical expenses by our community are funds that should continue to support our community. That generosity of those funds will not stop with us. All proceeds from this online auction will be 'paid forward' to the CRIM facility in our community so that the construction project can be completed and the services will be available in this fantastic facility again for our community. Our goal is $50,000 pesos to donate to CRIM.
